Daniel Martins joined the Neuro-Cardiovascular Intelligence Lab in October 2023 as part of the Erasmus+ Traineeships post-graduate programme.His academic background includes a BSc in Biomedical Engineering from NOVA University Lisbon (Portugal), and he is currently nearing the end of his master’s degree in Biomedical Engineering at the same institution. His master’s thesis, conducted at the Champalimaud Centre for the Unknown, Lisbon, Portugal, and titled «Addressing Brain Circuit Dysfunction Underlying DBS-Induced Parkinsonism», reflects his main research interests – neuroimaging, brain connectivity, neuromodulation, and electrophysiology; both in the context of neurophysiological understanding and neuropsychiatric disease. As a Research Intern at the NCIL, he is set to explore the brain-heart interplay of healthy subjects during different sleep stages, under the close guidance of Gaetano Valenza, PhD, and Vincenzo Catrambone, PhD.
